Activision
announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reached $400 million in the US
and UK on launch day in the last year. Now, Activision “again” has announced
that Call of Duty: Black Ops II reached more than $500 million worldwide sold
during its first 24 hours after its launch day last week on November 13th, 2012. How fantastic!
"With first day sales of over half a billion dollars
worldwide, we believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the
year for the fourth year in a row," said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.
"Life-to-date sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded worldwide
theatrical box office receipts for Harry Potter and Star Wars, the two most
successful movie franchises of all time."
We predict the number of copies that will be sold will
keep increasing during several months. The Call of Duty: Black Ops II also
starts available for Nintendo Wii U on November 18th, 2012, and it
will add more copies sold.
